John judging Division 4This was the first time a flyball tournament has been held at this venue and we all hope it will not be the last, The Crazies have found a first-rate site with Redcar beach a few minutes walk away.  Saturday started well with Charlie Berry asking John to stand in and judge Division 4.  We were running starters on the day with Sara and Georgie attending their first competition, and Rachel decided to run with Tess even though she had only done flyball a few times in training.  Andrew from the Dog Friendlies joined us with his dog Becky, all the dogs performed well not putting a paw wrong throughout the day.  We finished the day in the rosettes with a fourth.

We ran as The Hot Shots in Division 3 on the Sunday with a declared time of 20.50, from this we ended with a seed time of 20.65 so Stan and John came up with an accurate estimate and we didn’t breakout for once.  The majority of the racing was tight and the last race of the day proved to be spectacular.  John had been working with Emma to tighten up her start time by the end of the fourth race she was perfect, getting times between 0.002 and 0.005 seconds.  Our final race was against The Nottingham Supadogs and whilst we won the first race our opponents decided to tighten up but we had no slack to tighten.  The last two races were both down to the judge consulting the timers, we won both – just!  We finished the day joint equal with the Supadogs and the Cleveland Arrows so placing was down to fastest times, we beat the Supadogs into fourth place coming away with a rosette for third.
