May 4-5th
To
misquote Luke Skywalker "May the Fourth be with you" and the force was
with us, in bucket loads, too much ...... we broke out three times and were
disqualified from the tournament. The trouble was we had not raced since
December so Stan had to put in a declared time, which since the retirement of
Tara was not easy. Stan came up with a time of 21 seconds which John
verified as being reasonable. However once we settled in and tightened up
the crossovers we heard the dreaded words, "They've broken out, Judge". We
had. We recorded a time of 19.81, which was a total
surprise because we thought we had done well to go sub 22 last season.
Even with poor crossovers we were breaking out so we decided to enjoy the
racing and go for the points. In the afternoon Stan put Amber in a few of
the races and she did really well, not putting a paw wrong.
Monday
saw us in Starters but again our luck was out with Reef still deciding not to
come back with the ball. We ended the day with just one complete run. On a
lighter note Phil ran with Digger for The Travelling Tearaways, and with Digger
being Reef's grandfather it sort of kept it in the family, Phil is now also
known as The Travelling Philbury.
The only person to come away with a rosette was John as he was on his first assignment as a judge. He totally enjoyed himself and hopes he will be able to judge again soon.
