This
was our last outdoor tournament of the season and we found ourselves placed in
Division Six which meant we would not face the whitewash that we had at
Scarborough. However we got off to
a poor start losing our first heat against the Wizards. We quickly recovered from this setback and won the next
two heats of the morning. Phil and
John took a look at the results after lunch and realised we could still finish
the day with a second place as the Crazies seemed to be a certain first place.
We had two races in the afternoon, we won against Doncaster, then we had
to wait three more heats before we came up for the last heat of the day against
the Crazies. During this lull we
shared some light hearted banter with those Crazy people so we went into battle
knowing we were in for some good racing. We
lost the first two races so Stan said to Carole and Phil, “Go for it”.
This was the most exciting race of the day with the Crazies tail end dog
only just beating our pocket rocket Millie.
The icing on the cake was we went sub 21!
We will start the indoor season with a seed time of 20.76.
We finished the day with a second place, first going to the Crazies as
predicted.
We would like to thank the Crazies for some great racing and look forward to seeing them again next year at Carlton Towers. We would also like to thank Sue and Roger Talbot and the Kellington teams for providing a well run tournament. Plus a special mention to our divisional judge Alison who seems to think Millie is HER handbag!
