23rd September 2006
When we set off for this venue the weather was poor, however as we passed Scammonden Dam on the M62 the sky lifted and Lancashire gave us bright sunshine which continued for the rest of the day. The Bytes had chosen a quiet rural venue which gave us good facilities including excellent bacon butties prior to the racing, to add to the rural atmosphere the local hunt rode past in the afternoon. We were placed in Division 5 and enjoyed some tight racing, John and Millie who were racing in last position had some really good runs, Millie living up to her name of the team pocket rocket. Stan added a new dimension to the sport by inventing ‘DemolitionBall’; he accidentally sent Megan down with her lead still attached and we all looked on in horror as the jumps were wrecked.
The day marked the retirement of Holly who has been a team stalwart for the past six years, she can now put her paws up and leave the running to her successor, Foster. The day also marked the end of the 2006 outdoor season and we look forward to Foster’s debut indoor match. We ended the day with a third place rosette and we would like to congratulate the ever popular Crazies who won the division.
