What an absolutely superb venue Druridge Bay Country Park in Northumberland is. It is a large country park within 400yds of the beach. Camping was beside a large freshwater lake. The Flyball tournament itself was part of a larger dog show.
It was a memorable weekend.
It was Billy Bob's first ever outing in Division. He ran magnificently all day, running in all six races and only getting things wrong a couple of times. Well done Billy Bob & Eileen. Sorry about the lack of points but that is another story.
In The morning Tessa knew the beach was the other side of the trees and efectively said sod it to this flyball lark in the morning. She persistently refused to go over the jumps on the way back and Bracken had his manic head on. I think he is the only dog I have seen who has cleared four jumps alternatively in both lanes.
We decided from that point to go NOT FOR COMPETITION and consequently gained Zero Points as the Norwegians say.
The afternoon races were better both Tessa & Bracken settling down a little.
It was very nice to see all 10 dogs playing together on the beach -even though we only took 2 Balls with us. Even better was the sight of Jenny chasing after and retrieving the ball and responding to Eileen, recall on the open beach. Holly also had some quality time off lead on the beach with the other dogs
Two of our members who shall remain anonymous enjoyed our evening hospitality so much that they almost got themselves locked in the venue which made it a little difficult to get to their B&B.
To sum up it was a very worthwhile 240mile round trip for a training session.
There is not a spreadsheet for this week no point
