August 23rd

This was the first time we had been to a tournament at this location and we were impressed with the layout, facilities and exercise area. The first team in were the Hotshots their first race being in the blue lane. Both Daisy and CoCo have problems with the blue lane so John and Garry were concerned that it could all go wrong. The first race went OK but Daisy decided to run over to the red lane on her way back so we lost because of interference. The same happened on the third race plus CoCo ran out on the first jump of her run back. The second race was also in the blue lane and we had a repeat of CoCo running out and Daisy crossing into the red lane, so we decided to go NFC and use the day as a training exercise. The third race was in the red lane and all went well, then with the aide of wings around the first jump back we could correct Daisy and CoCo’s run outs.

The first divisional races were immediately followed by starters where Bracken and BillyBob did really well, both dogs being focused on the ball rather than the dogs in the other lane. Rosettes were given to all the starter teams so Sue and Eileen both came away with a memento. Rachel videoed the racing and Carolyn from the Crazies has loaded it onto YouTube.

We then had another division to run before the Hotdogs were racing. Both of the Hotdogs first two races gave some good tight racing but unfortunately Finnegan injured a pad and had to withdraw. This left us with Foster, Harry and Millie so rather than lose points by going NFC we ran anyway and practiced our changeovers.  Although we didn’t win anything it was another enjoyable days flyballing.

Congratulations to Finnegan on gaining Flyball Dog Advanced !
