Easter Weekend
We had
a successful but long weekend at our first tournament of the season.
We fielded two starter teams on Friday, the Imps and the Minx, both teams
ran well but we seemed to be up against teams that had had more racing
experience than us. But given this was our first outing both teams ended the day
a credible fifth.
Sunday
saw the Hot Dogs running in Division 7 with a declared time of 20.3.
We clocked up a time of 19.74 for our first heat so we decided to
throttle back as 19.8 was the fastest we could run.
We won all our first three races but disaster struck in race four, we had
two more break outs of 19.71 seconds so we were disqualified from the
tournament. This did however mean
we could still go for the points and there was no pressure to win the final
races.
On
Monday we were back for multibreed fielding a team called the Hod Dogs which was
far too subtle for the organisers so maybe if we had spelled the name Hodd Dogs
they may have got the joke. It was
CoCo’s first experience of running in Division and she performed really well
just running out a few times which was something Daisy had done the day before.
We ended the day with a second place being beaten by the Whiterose
Aristocrats who had Millie, the flyballer of fortune, running as height dog.
This was an arrangement John had made last year at Drax before we had a
multibreed team of our own. On the
plus side Millie gained her 5,000 points so she is now Flyball Dog Advanced,
well done Millie.
We look forward
to a rematch at the Drax tournament.
