Liz grew up with dogs and had dogs for many years, while her children were growing up and beyond, so when she retired she decided that she really wanted a dog again, preferably a Border Collie, or a Collie X.  Barney was born on a farm, with his father a Border Collie and his mother a Labrador Spaniel X.  Perfect thought Liz.  They have attended obedience training since Barney was six months old, which he enjoys, but he really loves to play, particularly with balls.  (At least twice a week, often more, he finds a ball while they are out walking.  He really doesn't care if it's big, small of just a bit of a ball, he drops it at Liz's feet in the hopes that she will throw it or kick it for him to catch or fetch).  Barney's favourite toy is a tennis ball launcher.  He's a bright dog who learns quickly and at 15 months Liz decided he could cope with more than the obedience classes. Liz always thought that Barney would love Flyball, but didn't know of a club, so they tried Agility.  Barney enjoyed it but Liz couldn't cope as she was not fast enough and always in the wrong place at the wrong time!!!  Thanks to the internet, they have now joined the team and so far so good.  Barney does enjoy it and has made a good start, but has yet to prove his competence.
