After many years with lurchers who showed no interest whatsoever in retrieving anything, Phil and Eileen are delighted that Finnegan has taken so well to Flyball but not particularly surprised as they can’t mention the word ‘ball’ at home without being mobbed!

Billy Bob, however, has taken a little longer to grasp the rudiments of the sport (approximately 3 years!) but then he’s a greyhound - they’re late developers.  En route to that moment at Phoenix when it finally clicked, he has given the team and spectators some memorable moments doing his impersonation of a gazelle!  And Stan can testify to the force of a 30 kg greyhound in full flight!!!

When Jenny – a 5 year-old ex-racer - joined the pack she came along to practice with the boys and – against all expectations - quickly demonstrated the inherent superiority of her gender by appearing in starters within a few months.  Phil and Eileen are now looking forward to the day when Hillam fields a ‘hounddog’ team (but need a bigger campervan!).

Finnegan, Billy Bob and Jenny share their pad with a chatty puss.  Phil tinkers with cars and Eileen reads for England – when work doesn’t get in the way.

Finnegan also likes tinkering with cars but the less said about that the better!
