Finnegan’s a flyball dog
Just recently enrolled
We take him every Saturday
In weather hot or cold
We noted how he loves to chase
All postmen, cyclists, rabbits
And hit on flyball as the thing
For a lurcher with such habits
He’s quite the smartest of our pack
And comes back when you call
He knows a lot of other words
His favourite being ‘ball’
Finnegan’s a flyball dog
He’s really fast and keen
It’s just the jumps aren’t well designed
For one so long and lean
He’s OK going solo
He takes off like a shot
But when another dog’s involved
His training’s quite forgot
Finnegan’s a flyball dog
He loves to chase and run
And when he goes to tournaments
Just barking is such fun
We know he’ll get there in the end
‘Cause Stan has told us so
But competition is not quite
The reason that we go
Epilogue
Now Finnegan’s a Flyball dog
He only has one aim:
To represent the lurcher race
In Flyball’s Hall of Fame.
